Ratt Fan May Have Found A New Singer To Replace Stephen Pearcy

Ratt_logo_newIn April of this year, Ratt’s frontman Stephen Pearcy announced (again) that he would be leaving Ratt. In his announcement he stated that he would finish recording the upcoming Ratt album due to contractual obligation and after that will leave the Ratt’s nest. After this announcement, the Ratt Pack was very quiet and has yet to even peep one little squeak about it. So what’s up their sleeves? One can only up that they are looking for their next secret weapon that will once again put them back in the game and no, it’s NOT going to be Jizzy Pearl… thank god!
According to metal site Metal Sludge who is operating on a faint pulse, they received an email from a Ratt fan that read like this:

A friend of mine did a live recording of RATT last year (hired by them) and took out Stephen’s iffy vocals and had our friend Ryan Coggin sing this live over the track… He also did Lack of Communication and You’re In Love and both sound just as amazing as this. Pearcy has told the band explicitly that he is going to record the one last RATT record since they are contractually obligated but WILL NOT TOUR. I just wanted to throw this out there to try and start a “campaign’ to get Ryan in as the new singer. He’s a great guy and a great singer… Thanks for listening and let me know if I can provide any more info, links or answer any questions. Ryan doesn’t know I’m writing you guys. He’s currently out touring with Hayes Carll as his tour manager but he belongs on the stage, not next to it.

So the email states that Ryan knows nothing about this guy’s intentions. I kind of find that hard to believe but ya know what? Stranger things have happened. I listened to every one of these tracks and I have to say that I was honestly blown completely away. Ryan sounds enough like Pearcy to pull the songs off but doesn’t sound JUST like him if that makes sense. This is definitely someone I could see fronting RATT and I actually got excited about the possibility. I’m wondering if the RATT guys have heard these yet. Would they avoid this because of a kind of “Rockstar” kind thing? In all honesty, I say give this guy a shot. Ratt has a distinct, definitive sound and I think that this guy would do the trick.

I’ve reached out to Ryan to see if he’d like to talk about this some and have yet to hear back from him.
