Austin Psych Rockers Father Sky Premier Debut EP TOWER HEIST

Austin psych rockers Father Sky debut EP Tower Heist is a short but oh so sweet platter of groovy, rifftastic psych rock that just feels like warm gravy being poured all over you. It seems lately that this genre of music seems to be gaining some popularity and even somewhat becoming a trend. When a movement like this does indeed become a trend, it actually becomes easier to really separate the authentic, true to form bands and the ones that are just hoping on a bandwagon lacking any kind of sincerity.

FATHER SKY have spent the last year perfecting both their songwriting and stage show. Guitarist/Vocalist “Arkansas” Dave Pennington and Jim Ortiz deliver a virtuosic twin guitar attack with a maturity older than they look; bassist Jonah Holt and drummer Chris Ortiz are the guardians of the band’s thunderous rhythm section. Pennington fronts the soul-driven blues rock militia with a passion & voice reminiscent of the early eras of Led Zeppelin and Muddy Waters.

Pennington explains “FATHER SKY is the culmination of everything I’ve ever wanted to accomplish musically- a creative outlet for me to see the world through music. I handpicked some of the finest musicians in Austin that I admire for their dedication to their instrument, and the desire to do something bigger than ourselves. It is a sound influenced by the roots of rock and metal, blended with the sounds of the South, that our personal influences- Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, & Muddy Waters (just to name a few…)- set in motion for us to continue the tradition of Rock N Roll.”

Father Sky is the real deal and with their debut 5 song EP Tower Heist, they prove to be a band that truly cuts through it all and show that this style of music isn’t a trend to them but music that they love and are truly passionate about. You can’t fake this kind of passion and Father Sky has quickly become a new favorite here at The Great Southern Brainfart.

We are honored to be able to premier Father Sky’s debut EP here at The Great Southern Brainfart so if you like what you hear, please go check out the band at https://www.facebook.com/fatherskyband and tell ’em The Brainfart sent ya!
