Prog-Metal masters Symphony X have announced that they will be joining forces with thrash legends Overkill for what I am dubbing the Jersey Slaughter Tour!!! Ok, that tour names sucks but whatever you’re going to call it, you can’t call it bad to the fucking bone. I mean, c’mon. It’s fucking Symphony X and Overkill. This tour is guaranteed to have you calling in sick the next day due to neck injuries as I can’t even begin to imagine just how heavy this tour is going to be.
The 24-date co-headlining trek launches at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts on September 18, hits four Canadian cities, and then wraps up with a very special night at Terminal 5 in New York City on October 17. Overkill is still touring in support of 2014’s White Devil Army while Symphony X hasn’t released anything since their 2011 epic masterpiece Iconoclast. Symphony X is currently putting the finishing touches on their next album which is expected for a late 2015 release on Nuclear Blast records.
Regarding the musical direction of the new SYMPHONY X material, the band’s bassist, Michael LePond, told the “Talking Metal” podcast: “I think this album is not gonna be as heavy as our last one, ‘Iconoclast’. If I had to compare this one, I would say it’s a combination of [2002’s] ‘The Odyssey.’ It has a lot of classic SYMPHONY X elements in it, and I think our old fans are really gonna appreciate this one. So we’re really excited about it.”
