Every year. Every fucking year at the beginning January I say to myself nervously, “How will this year even come close to being as awesome as last year?” I say this every year and every year I am shocked with just how much awesomeness fills my year. Ever since I was a young, fledgling metalhead reading magazines such as RIP Magazine, Circus, Hit Parader, and Faces Rocks just to name a few, I always dreamed of someday getting the opportunity to interview some of my favorite bands. I dreamed of the day when I would get to ask them all the questions I ever had knowing that I would get the answers I sought out. Well, 30 years later, I am still pinching myself that I actually get this opportunity.

2015 was a great year for interviews for The Great Southern Brainfart. I got to interview the legendary Bobby Caldwell of Captain Beyond for what turned into a marathon hour conversation. I had the opportunity to talk to former Razor White (and childhood hero) Troy Marks this year. I had an amazing conversation with Damon Johnson about his awesome career, and I even became good friends with Tesla vocalist Jeff Keith. For the 4th time (and first time in person) I got to shoot the shit with Municipal Waste/Iron Reagan leader Tony Foresta. I had the honor of interviewing Stryper’s Michael Sweet for the 2nd time and I also this year had some great first time interviews with Matt Thompson of King Diamond/Shaolin Death Squad, Sam and Rosie of Purson, and legendary Cathedral vocalist Lee Dorrian.

As you can see, my life definitely doesn’t suck. I still feel like that kid that is so full of big dreams only now I’m getting to live all of my dreams out. In some ways, I wish I could go back in time and tell a young Brainfart of all the adventures that lie ahead but then again, I’m glad I can’t because it makes living out these dreams that much sweeter!

Enjoy this year’s interviews and thank you to each and every one of you for checking them out and commenting! I hope you all had as much fun reading them as I did conducting them!

About Don de Leaumont

Don (aka. The Brainfart) has been a heavy metal fan since hearing it for the first time in 1983. Don is also repsonsible for all of the typos, shitty grammar, and kick ass content on this site. Don likes cheap beer, whiskey, Coca Cola Icees, going to shows, and hanging with his kick ass wife, two cats and dog. He originally wanted to name his dog Shandi but his wife said, "No fucking way."
