Original White Wizzard Lineup To Reunite for Show in October!

White+Wizzard+WhiteWizzardBandIf you have been reading this blog for any amount of time or know of the band in general, you will know that White Wizzard has been a band plagued with drama, mudslinging, and endless lineup changes. At last count, here is how White Wizzard’s turn around looked like:

Five Lead singers.
Seven Guitarists
Four Drummers
and Jon Leon on bass.

White Wizzard’s Over the Top line up (featuring lead vocalist Wyatt Anderson) was the lineup that achieved the most attention but it was the original lineup featuring future Holy Grail members James Paul Luna (vocals), James J. LaRue (guitar), and Tyler Meahl (drums) that is held in high regard as one of the forefathers of the NWOTHM movement. Earlier this week, the official White Wizzard Facebook page (run by Jon Leon) announced that the original High Speed GTO era lineup would be reuniting for one show. As you can imagine, at this point in the game you have to take whatever Jon Leon says with a grain of salt . While I thought this sounded like an amazing reunion (yes, I would LOVE this to be honest), I had my doubts until Holy Grail vocalist James Paul Luna released this on his official Facebook page:

Yes the White Wizzard reunion is real!

When Jon and LaRue met with me a a year ago we shot the shit and they expressed interest in me working with them again, however I had too much going on with the grail so I had to decline. I don’t usually hold grudges so there’s no hard feelings there, I feel the Wizzard/ Grail feud was fabricated by the press and labels. Fast forward to 2016- Jarvis hits us up about an original lineup WW reunion and I said “Sure man! What’s the harm in one show?”. I think the fans of that GTO ep will be really excited to see us play these tunes live. Naturally the next question is if we will be playing more shows or releasing new material, and to that I’d say I can’t make any promises with our other obligations and such. For now, we’re just focusing on this one show and making it as awesome as we can- if something else comes of it then so be it. Looking forward to revisiting those old tunes again and seeing what happens.

This is a reunion that I feel could really be an amazing thing and maybe even bring about some cool things in the future. I just hope that in the time between now and the show things don’t self destruct. Luna sounds like he’s in a great place with it and I have to say that this makes me pretty psyched to see what becomes of it.
