Raging Slab Guitarist/Co-Founder Elyse Steinman Passes Away After Three Year Battle with Cancer

Raging Slab was a favorite of mine back in my high school days.  The self-titled album was one that got numerous spins from me and their follow up, Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert, is still to this day one of my favorite albums.  They were one of those bands that I loved but I never got to see live and I’ll always be bummed about that.  I was shocked to hear via my friends at Sleaze Roxx that after at three year battle with cancer, Raging Slab guitarist/co-founder Elyse Steinman passed away.

The following message was posted on Raging Slab‘s Facebook page:

“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Elyse Steinman. She died on Thursday, March 30th after a three year battle with cancer. I laid her to rest that evening at a natural burial ground in Washington state as the sun was setting over the Columbia river gorge. Thank you everybody for all the love and support you showed throughout her illness, and please know that; as much as you loved her, she loved you all back just a little bit more. Peace and Love. Greg

Death is inevitable but it’s something that nonetheless always seems to leave a sting.  The older I get, the more and more of my favorite artists from my youth seem to be passing on and this one definitely left a mark.  RIP Elyse and may you forever jam that USA shaped six string wherever you may be!
