Iron Maiden Announce "Final Frontier" Tour 2010 & Prove That They Hate The Southeast!

Via an Official Press Release (Read it here), Iron Maiden announced that they will kick off a North American tour that will give fans a preview songs from their upcoming album “Final Frontier.” The tour starts on June 9th in Dallas, TX. Iron Maiden will be taking prog metal heavyweights Dream Theater out as the support act for this tour. Thank Eddie they’re not hauling out ‘Arry’s daughter Lauren Harris again. What a train wreck that turned out to be.

This turned out to be a much more extensive tour than I thought even though Eddie & the boys have completely, once again, ignored the fact that they have fans in the Southeastern part of the United States!  The last time they were here with Bruce was on the Fear of The Dark tour at Lakewood Amphitheater in ’92 with Testament and Corrosion of Conformity.  Great show.  After that, we got stuck with Blaze Bayley as they sadly didn’t even sell out the 1500 capacity club The Masquerade.  Since then, they have never been back to Atlanta.  Look dudes, it’s not our fault that we all knew just how bad Blaze sucks!

Anyways, this tour should be a good one.  And based one ‘Arry’s “15th Album” promise, one must wonder if this is going to be indeed the last original Iron Maiden album we’ll get.  Maybe from here on out ‘Arry and Co will FINALLY release some of those hidden treasures that they are sitting on as you know there is a plethora of amazing archived audio and video footage.  Either way, this tour should prove to be a great one and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to catch this one.  Here’s what singer Bruce Dickinson had to say about it:

“We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! We were astounded to see so many thousands of fans packing out the venues, so this time round we will be playing a few more cities we haven’t visited for some time, like Dallas, Saskatoon, Detroit, Denver and Pittsburgh, though logistically we couldn’t get to a few places we really like to play, which is a shame. It’s also great news that our friends DREAM THEATER are able to join us as special guests.”

“We’re still working on the set list for these summer shows, but this time it will cover the whole history of the band, and I can hint that we will be playing a taster from the new album. We already have the designs for the new Final Frontier stage show which we are building to bring out with us, so this summer tour will be a bit of a preview for the fans. It’s certainly looking very spectacular at this stage and with a brand new Eddie and an amazing light show!”

“We are also trying to ensure that our fans get the tickets they want close to the stage without paying over the odds to ticket scalpers. This is something our manager Rod is working hard on so we hope to see many more familiar faces down the front having a great time. We will see you all soon”

Bruce, count me in mate!  Think you can swing by and pick me and Jammin’ Jaymz up in Ed Force One?
