This Day In Metal History

On January 30, 1973, Kiss performed their first concert to an audience of three at the Popcorn Club (renamed Coventry shortly afterward) in Queens. For the first three gigs, January 30 – February 1, they wore no or little makeup, it was not until the March 9–10 shows at The Daisy in Amityville, NY that they would wear the makeup that would become their famous designs.  The feedback from these early performances was less than positive at times but nobody could deny the fact that KISS was doing something unique.  Little did these folks know that KISS would go on to change the face of rock & roll forever, play to legions of fans and inspire a string of bands that would carry on the theatrical legacy of shows way into the 2000’s.
