This Day In Metal History

On this day in 1984, THIS IS SPINAL TAP was released onto the masses. A “mockumentary” based on the steady decline of a British heavy metal band, the movie captured the hearts and the horror of metal fans all over the world. Featuring mishaps that had actually occurred in bands such as Judas Priest and Black Sabbath, “This Is Spinal Tap” became legendary in their own right for songs such as “Stonehenge”, “Sex Farm” and “Rock & Roll Creation.” Spinal Tap also introduced us to “amps that go to 11.” For that we will be forever grateful!

In 2002, This Is Spinal Tap was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. How’s THAT for credibility?
