Judas Priest Announces Farewell Tour

After 40 years of crushing skulls, melting faces and releasing that god awful “Turbo” album, the Metal Gods have decided that it’s time to call it a day. Judas Priest will be hitting the road in 2011 on what they are calling “The Epitaph” tour which will hit all major cities throughout the world. This will be Judas Priest’s most extensive run in years and will surely be a juggernaut of a tour.

In all honesty, I’ve learned to take these “Farewell Tours” with a grain of salt. Don’t get me wrong, I would NEVER pass up a Farewell tour as missing one is like playing Russian Roulette. I mean, look at Kiss? I fucking LOVE Kiss but they’ve been saying “farewell” for 12 years now. That’s longer than they originally had the make up on in the first place so go figured. Hell, they got so tired of saying farewell they just changed their minds and decided to hang around which is fine but I’m just sayin’. Either way, count me in on this one. I haven’t seen Priest in years and the things I’ve seen of them lately while hit or miss seem to be more “hit” than “miss.” It would be cool to hear them really challenge the fans and bust out some deep cuts from “Rocka Rolla”, “Sad Wings of Destiny” and “Stained Class.” I hope they make the most of this and really do some cool shit as opposed to just going through the motions and a bundle of “hits” just to get it done.

Judas Priest will be starting its world tour in Europe and has just confirmed the following festivals for 2011:

Jun. 09 – Sweden Rock Festival, Sölvesborg, Sweden
Jun. 11 – Sauna Open Air, Tampere, Finland
Jun. 17 – Copenhell, Copenhagen, Denmark
