In This Moment Gifts Atlanta With Another Amazing Show

In This Moment returned to Atlanta just in time for the holiday to give us all the ultimate gift.  Maria Brink & Co. came back one last time before the years end to melt faces and solidify themselves as one of the best metal acts out on the road right now.  Taking the stage to a nearly full house, In This Moment opened with “Just Drive” to a literally roaring crowd and for the next hour that audience belonged to them.  This song is such a great opener as I feel this really showcases Chris Howorth as a fucking amazing guitarist. The band really comes together in a huge way on this tune and proves themselves worthy as heavy metal greats. With each show I see, it seems that they grow into a stronger and more confident band.  This particular show proved to me that they have not only come into their own as a powerful entity but that they are truly capable of commanding a stage and engaging an audience.  Even with them as an opening act on this tour for the band Nonpoint, In This Moment fucking ruled the night and had me feeling bad for any band that would have to follow a show of this magnitude.

The set list was a great mix of songs from all three of the bands albums but it was the newer material from “A Star-Crossed Wasteland” that I found to reign supreme.  In This Moment is a passionate band that puts their all into their music and while this is evident on their albums, it truly comes across live more than anything.  “Standing Alone” was a highlight for me and it sounded so amazing that it gave me goosebumps.  Maria Brink’s vocals were so full of intense beauty and her delivery of this song could be felt by everyone present.  “The Promise” was another outstanding highlight as they welcomed Adrian Patrick of Otherwise and Elias Soriano of Nonpoint to join Maria on vocals for this song.  The chemistry on stage was nothing short of electrifying. The three singers trading off vocals back and forth made for not only a really amazing listening experience but it was visually exciting as well to see the energy of these three together. “The Gun Show” proved to be a fan favorite which had the band playing their asses off and drummer Jeff Fabb taking his place as one of my new favorite metal drummers. This dude is so ridiculously underrated as a drummer and this song really allows him to show what he is really capable of.

Not content leaving the audience with an amazing “Gun Show,” In This Moment kicked it up a few notches by closing out with an untouchable “Daddy’s Falling Angel.” Maria Brink asked for a table to be brought to the center of the floor and then went through the crowd, got on the table and said, “Now I want you all to circle pit around me for this next song but don’t fucking hit me! I bruise like a peach!” The band kicked into the song and the audience went absolutely ape shit and moshed around her as commanded. This was another visually stunning thing to take in that was simple yet very effective. Maria looked as if she was performing this song from the eye of a hurricane as the band completely tore it up on stage across the room. Maria made her way back to the stage to finish out the song to a face melting close. If there were people who didn’t know In This Moment before this set, they were fans by the end as they flooded to the merch booth to buy t-shirts and other memorabilia.

In This Moment once again has proven to me that they are a band that is in it for the long haul. Love them or hate them, they are band that is full of integrity, perseverance and they will not stop until they feel that they have given more than 110%. Even on a bill with three other bands, they manage to make a lasting impression on everyone and win over fans. In This Moment has nowhere to go but up from here and I can’t even begin to say how happy I am that they are finally getting some much deserved respect and attention from the general public. If you have the opportunity to see this band, go see them. It’s a heartfelt and passionate performance by a band that gives a lot and asks for little in return.
