Motley Crue & Poison To Hit The Road This Summer

It’s amazing to see that these two bands are touring together after all these years. It’s really entertaining to see all these tours like this happening these days. Back when I was a kid in the 80’s, these were the kind of tours we would consider dream tours. “Man, you know what would rule? Motley Crue and Poison on tour together!” “Dude, you know what would really rule? Poison, Cinderella and Quiet Riot all on one bill!” Well, these tours have actually happened in the past 10 years or so.

I think it’s cool to put together shows like this. The nostalgic value alone makes it fun but really just how good are these bands these days? Poison has always been a bare bones kinda band that is totally a guilty pleasure and even they don’t take themselves seriously. They never claimed to be virtuosos and if you’re wanting to see expert class act musicians, Poison probably isn’t your band but if you wanna have a good time and relive your glory days, this is the band for you. As for Motley Crue, they are totally trying to be a serious band and show some sort of relevance in this age. I find this kind of funny since in my opinion, they are about as serious as Poison is. Nikki Sixx even had said in the past, “No way in fucking hell would we (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION or MÖTLEY CRÜE) ever, ever tour with a fucking band like POISON,” he said in an online posting. “We have had talks with KISS and I told them very clearly that we would not do the tour if they used POISON. That would be the death of us… I will not be attached to that kind of fake bullshit…”

So here we are in 2011 and Motley Crue and Poison are touring together. Does this mean that Poison has some cred now or that Motley Crue are accepting the fact that they are a nostalgia act? I’ll be very curious to see this show when it comes here to Atlanta to see just how it goes over. You can expect me to be very honest and very critical of this show. Color me curious.
