Rare Venom “At War With Satan” Demo from 1983

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The internet is the best thing that could ever happen to music dorks like myself. All those years as a kid I would only hear and read about these rare bootlegs and demos of my favorite bands. I would even order the bootleg catalogs out of the back of Circus and Hit Parader magazine just to see all the things I knew I would never have. They were usually so damn expensive that I knew I’d never afford them. 30 something years later, I sit here at my computer and fill my external hard drive with all the bootlegs and rarities that I only dreamed of having as a kid. There are so many great sites out there where you can find some really killer shit. One of my current favorites is Rare and Obscure Metal. There’s shit on this site that I never even heard of which makes it an exciting site to browse through.

Interview question regarding this tape:

Q: There was a very brutal version of “At War With Satan” recorded in the old days. Will that ever be available?

A (Cronos): Was that the demos? That was, wasn’t it? When we actually came over to do the Staten Island show… I remember we had Metallica on… ‘83. We had the demo for At War With Satan in our bag, and we went to these great parties with all these young kids and got fuckin’ out of our minds. I remember pulling out the tape and played it for everybody, and they thought it was great, and we got drunk and we left and we didn’t take the tape. That’s how that got out. But we didn’t mind anyway. We thought it sounded cool anyway. So we just went, oh well, what the fuck. Win some, lose some. We still had the album to do, anyway. So it was no problem to us.
