After a lengthy process of audition 7 drummers, Dream Theater announced today via their reality based web show that the new drummer is Mike Mangini. In a very emotional and exciting webisode, Mangini was moved and ecstatic to be the new drummer for Dream Theater. “Thank you for trusting me with the 2nd part of your career.” is what he said. I have been pulling for this guy from the beginning. His passion, drive and determination is inspirational and I cannot wait to see what comes of this new chapter of Dream Theater. Dream Theater auditioned an extremely impressive roster of drummer that consisted of Derek Roddy, Thomas Lang, Virgil Donati, Marco Minneman, Aquiles Priester and Peter Wildoer.

After watching these three episodes, I honestly have to say that Mike Mangini is the perfect guy for the job. He truly loves this band and the music they make and it was so obvious. While the other guys showed experience and expertise at their instruments, Mangini was the one. I was totally blown away by Peter Wildoer’s work with them and honestly felt that he was a close second but it was still all about Mike. Mike, congratulations to you and The Brainfart salutes you!
