Chuck Billy and Testament Confirm What Just May Be The Metal Tour Of The Year!

Chuck Billy of Testament had some kick ass news to share with 107.7 The Bone at Mayhem Festival on July 10th in Mountain View, CA. In addition to announcing that the new Testament album would be titled “The Dark Roots of Earth”, Chuck announced that Testament would be hitting the road with Anthrax, Overkill, and Death Angel.

““We plan to tour. It’s gonna be October/November. I think it’s OK to say, it’s gonna be Anthrax, Death Angel and Overkill. So that’ll be in America. That’ll be probably a five- or six-week tour in America. It would be good to have a record out with that. But if we’ll have something out we’ll be promoting with that tour.”

Umm, I have three words for you: WHAT BIG 4? Man, now THIS is what I call a metal tour. In all honesty, I’ve seen some pretty amazing tours that still, in my opinion, make the Big 4 look ridiculous. I know that the Big 4 is like a dream for a lot of you but seriously, seeing Megadeth/Testament/Exodus and the Big 3 (Slayer/Megadeth/Anthrax) was just mind blowing. This upcoming Testament tour is yet another bold statement that the “old guys’ can still do it and do it better than most that are out these days.

In addition to talking about the tour, Chuck talked about Paul Bostph’s replacements since being sidelined by an injury. Testament has been playing with Sadus drummer Jon Allen at their recent shows and drummer Gene Hoglan has been brought in to record drums on the new album, while Lamb Of God’s Chris Adler will appear on bonus tracks. One can only hope that Bostaph will recover and make it for this tour as he has become what I feel to be the best drummer Testament ever had. It looks like it will be a hell of a year for Testament and I cannot wait to hear the new album and catch this tour. Definitely one to not be missed.
