It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 20 years since Skid Row first exploded out of nowhere in the hard rock/metal world. From a little bar band in Tom’s River, NJ to performing in Moscow Russia before 100,000 people, in a short time Skid Row became a force to be reckoned with. While known for some of their more mainstream hits like “18 & Life” and “I Remember You”, Skid Row returned with much darker, heavier sound with their 1991 sophomore effort “Slave To The Grind.” The band hit the road as a support for Guns N’ Roses “Use Your Illusions” tour then took to the road headlining theaters and arenas on their own. For their “Slave to the Grind” headlining tour, Skid Row took a little unknown band from Texas by the name of Pantera on the road as their opening act.

Skid Row returned to the fold once again in 1995 with yet another heavy and somewhat experimental sound for the album “Subhuman Race” but because of a shift in the plates of the music industry and being plagued with internal turmoil, Skid Row couldn’t regain their footing to pick up where they left off. Following a brief tour behind the album, the band called it quits. Dave “The Snake” Sabo went on to work behind the scenes as a manager for New Orleans metal supergroup Down and Rachel Bolan pursued other interests such as a new band Prunella Scales and racing cars.

In 1999, Skid Row resurfaces to open for KISS on their first of many farewell tours. They also sported a new line up. Gone was the irrational and egotistical Sebastian Bach and in was Texas singer Johnny Solinger. The band put out a new album of music called “Thickskin” and since then have toured all over the world and back delivering Skid Row Classics both old and new. In 2006 Skid Row released “Revolutions Per Minute” and are once again still out there playing old and new classics and giving the fans a top rate live performance.

Skid Row will be performing live here in Atlanta on Friday, September 16th so dust off those old shirts, squeeze into those jeans and get out there and see this band! This is a show not to be missed!
