No matter what, with the exception of the Blaze Bayley era, it has never really sucked to be an Iron Maiden fan. No matter how much shit we give them and how many LIVE albums they give us, Iron Maiden always manages to grab us in their big ol’ hairy, metal arms and show us just how much they love us. 2012 is going to be yet another amazing year to be an Iron Maiden fan.

After delivering The Final Frontier, the best album they’ve put out since Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, and an amazing US tour with Dream Theater in 2010, Iron Maiden has officially announced that they will be storming the US with the “Maiden England” tour. According to the official Iron Maiden website, the MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour”. This opening section of the World Tour is the band’s most extensive visit to North America for many years and includes a number of cities the band have not played in a very long time, such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City.

Bruce Dickinson had this to say: “We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited – with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below*), including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can’t wait to get started in Charlotte”.

As an old, long time Iron Maiden fan, it’s things like this that make me love this band even more than I already do. Just when you think Iron Maiden is drifting off, they come back with a facemelting tour like this that just lets you know that they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and that they really do appreciate us fans. This is going to be a monumental tour and you will not want to miss this one. As we’ve learned with Iron Maiden, once a tour like this is gone, it’s gone forever. UP THE IRONS!

About Don de Leaumont

Don (aka. The Brainfart) has been a heavy metal fan since hearing it for the first time in 1983. Don is also repsonsible for all of the typos, shitty grammar, and kick ass content on this site. Don likes cheap beer, whiskey, Coca Cola Icees, going to shows, and hanging with his kick ass wife, two cats and dog. He originally wanted to name his dog Shandi but his wife said, "No fucking way."

Erik Peterson says:

Sweet. Opening in Charlotte. 3 days after my birthday. I will definitely be there. Where is the track listing?

Jammin Jaymz says:

I am so stoked for this tour! It sucks that we miss the album-specific tours, esp. since the last two albums have been stellar. I’ll happily take these “history” tours though. Think about it…we’ll probably not only get Moonchild, but also Infinite Dreams and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Hell, maybe they’ll bust out with Killers and Still Life too!

Betcha anything they still play Fear of the Dark on this tour.

Instead of the usual fare, I’d love to see something from TFF pop up in the encore.

Oh, and you forgot to mention that ALICE FUCKING COOPER opens on the first half of the tour! WOOOO!
