Swedish facemelters (and Brainfart favorites) Graveyard have just made my year with an amazing announcement. Graveyard will once again be working with Nuclear Blast to release what I’m sure will be another “album of the year.” Graveyard has chosen Lights Out as the title of their next album, which is due to be released on October 26. Coming off the heals of a very successful world tour behind 2011’s stellar Hisingen Blues album, Graveyard wasted no time getting back into the studio while the cylinders were still hot. I cannot wait to hear just what Graveyard has in store for us with this new album. Drummer Axel Sjöberg had this to say about the upcoming album:
“The title ‘Lights Out’ sums up the feeling of the new album, and a feeling that we have. That these times that we live in are strange times, where no one really sees anything straight/the way they are.”
In addition for a lot of critical and fan acclaim for the music, Hisingen Blues also got a lot of attention because of the stellar artwork that graced the cover of the album. Not to be out done, Graveyard once again will offer up an album that is just a visually appealing as it is musically appealing.
Sjöberg added, “We all know that both we and pretty much everyone was really excited about the cover of Hisingen Blues. So we had to come up with a really strong idea to match the strength of that cover. It’s just about finished now, but even without having seen the final version, we are convinced that no one will be disappointed by the cover to Lights Out. We’ve worked with several people that all added their part, and as the saying goes in Sweden: the sum of the parts is bigger than the parts alone. So sharpen your raven’s hatches and get ready for Lights Out.”
I couldn’t be more excited for an album release this year. 2012 is really shaping up to be an amazing year in hard rock/metal already topping what I thought would be an untouchable 2011. With a new album, one can only hope that Graveyard will follow it up with another extensive US tour in late 2012/early 2013. Fingers crossed!
