2011 has been my best year of interviews to date. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to meet, talk, laugh and get to know some of the most interesting and at times legendary people in Heavy Metal. Getting into the minds and personal lives of these people is really a fascinating thing for me. This year, I got to cover many faces of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. I had the chance to cover the unsung legends (Sodom), the up and coming instrumentalists (Jake Dreyer and Bill Lonero) and the kings of Progressive Metal (Dream Theater and Symphony X). I got to talk to childhood heroes of mine (Rachel Bolan of Skid Row and Lenny Wolf of Kingdom Come), I got to talk to a European Metal legend (Wolf Hoffman of Accept) and I got to talk to the newer faces of metal that are completely changing the game (Holy Grail, White Wizzard, Riotgod and Five Finger Death Punch). This is all just to name a few.

2011 was an exciting year for me as a Metal Journalist. I really had that opportunity to grow as an interviewer and really learn how to engage my subjects whether it be backstage, outside the venue, on the tour bus or on the phone. These people are just that. They are people. They are people that like to be engaged and enjoy a good conversation whenever they can have one. Connecting with each of these people was a really great feeling to see them really think and come out of their shells is a pretty amazing thing to witness. I am so glad that I got to share each and every one of these interviews with my loyal Fartheads. Below is a list of links to every interview done in 2011. If you missed one or two, I hope you will go back and catch up. You may find you’ll learn a thing or two. Thanks for a great year! See y’all in 2012 with more Blowin’ Wind!

About Don de Leaumont

Don (aka. The Brainfart) has been a heavy metal fan since hearing it for the first time in 1983. Don is also repsonsible for all of the typos, shitty grammar, and kick ass content on this site. Don likes cheap beer, whiskey, Coca Cola Icees, going to shows, and hanging with his kick ass wife, two cats and dog. He originally wanted to name his dog Shandi but his wife said, “No fucking way.”

Art says:

That photo looks like you’re having a great time interviewing Darren Goot.

thegreatsouthernbrainfart says:

HAHA. He reminded me a lot of Darren too. Chris is a fucking hilarious guy. Really fun and cool dude to talk with.
